Cricket Invasion for World Cup

 Fourteen teams, competing for a place in the ICC World Twenty20 2016 in India next year, have arrived in Dublin to compete in the final stages of the Qualifying Tournament which is being jointly hosted by Cricket Ireland and Cricket Scotland. Supported in part by Fáilte Ireland, the tournament will give Dublin a boost by delivering 1,400 bed nights over ten nights until the tournament concludes with the final in Malahide on 26 July 2015.
 This is the second leg of the tournament which is being staged in Ireland and Scotland from 9 to 26 July. The final matches of the tournament will officially begin tomorrow as the competing countries, including Ireland, battle it out for the top spots that will see them move onto the next stage of the competition.

Refund Call for Festival Goers

The Kerry branch of the Irish Hotels’ Federation has asked all its members to make full refunds to more than 1,000 people who made weekend accommodation reservations for the cancelled Killarney Festival of Music and Food.
 Yesterday, branch spokesman Michael Rosney estimated more than 1,000 beds had been booked for the festival, due to be staged tomorrow and Sunday, and said he was confident all the hotels would comply with the request.
 “This cancellation is a disappointment, but we will recover from it,” he said.
