An article about wild swimming in Kerry features in the February edition of a popular British lifestyle magazine, profiling Kerry’s coastline for its 32,000 readers.
'Coast's a monthly magazine and Tourism Ireland in London and Fáilte Ireland invited journalist Catherine Mack to visit Kerry last autumn. The resulting six-page article appears under the headline “Wide Blue Yonder” and features beautiful photography.
The article highlights some of the Kerry's coastal swimming spots – including Fenit Island, Barrow Bay and Meenogahane Pier – which Catherine explored with local swimming guide John Edwards, from Wild Water Adventures. Catherine writes that “Guided wild swimming offers an intrepid perspective on the coastline, and nowhere is the experience more soulful or spectacular than on County Kerry’s Atlantic coast, fringed by an ancient, rugged and mountainous terrain”.
“We are delighted with the article about Kerry in the latest edition of Coast magazine,” said Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain. “It’s an excellent way of showcasing Kerry to a large audience of potential British holidaymakers – helping us to spread the word about what a great place it is to visit and what makes a holiday along the Wild Atlantic Way so memorable. Publicity is an important element of our overall promotional programme, helping to raise awareness through the British media of the many things to see and do on a holiday in Ireland.”
