Sodexo achieves 'Responsibility' standard

Sodexo Ireland has been awarded the Business Working Responsibly Mark, by Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) at its annual Sustainability Forum at Dublin Castle.

The Mark, which is operated by Business in the Community Ireland, is based on ISO 26000 and valid for three years. It is independently audited by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) and 29 companies in total now have the Mark in Ireland.

Tetrarch to control City West

Irish investment group Tetrarch Capital is set to take full ownership of the Citywest Hotel in Saggart, Co Dublin, by buying out the interest of its joint-venture partner, California-based Pimco.

Citywest was acquired out of receivership by Tetrarch and Pimco in September 2014 for about €30 million. Tetrarch and Pimco have since invested about €12 million in upgrading the four-star property.

The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed but Pimco is believed to have held a majority share in the hotel.

Citywest is Ireland’s biggest hotel with more than 764 bedrooms, an 18-hole golf course and a convention centre. It was originally developed by the late businessman Jim Mansfield.

'Coppers' accumulates €72m.

The company behind nightclub, Copper Face Jacks, has seen accumulated profits at the firm rise to €72m.

Breanagh Catering Ltd last year recorded pre-tax profits of €5.16m or just under €100,000 per week.

The company recorded the increase in pre-tax profits after the company’s gross profit — including unspecified “other operating income” — increased by 8.5% going from €11.35m to €12.32m in the 12 months to January 31 this year.

The €5.1m in pre-tax profits of last year followed pre-tax profits of €5m in 2015; €4.9m in 2014, and €5.5m in 2013.

e both in and outside the Kildare property. The renovation programme started 18 months ago when a new Honeymoon Suite was created and many of the bedrooms were completely refreshed. The entrance avenue was also redesigned and replanted and a new wedding garden was created in order to add a new dimension to the existing wedding offering at the hotel.

Guestline for GDPR Conference

Following its expansion into Ireland earlier this year, the leading hospitality software business Guestline is continuing its investment in the Irish market as it joins other industry representatives at the Munster 2017 GDPR Conference. Taking place at The Brehon Hotel in Killarney on 27 November 2017, the event is packed with advice and best practise ahead of major changes impacting the hospitality sector next year.

Hosted by cyber security agency Techfindr, the convention will offer hoteliers insight into the requirements around the forthcoming changes to GDPR legislation. This will include a focus on the financial penalties they will face if they are not compliant and the need to have robust cyber security policies in place. General counsel for Guestline, Jeremy Espley, will present on the definitions and scope of the new GDPR legislation. In particular this will address the new obligations that both hoteliers and technology providers to the industry will face both for securing consent to access data and processing data.
