Carluccio passes away

Restaurateur and chef Antonio Carluccio has passed away at the age of 80.
He earned a reputation on the restaurant scene for his Carluccio's  chain, which he founded in 1999, while also accumulating fame for his appearances alongside fellow chef Gennaro Contaldo on BBC Two's 'Two Greedy Italians' series. His contributions to the food world resulted in his being nicknamed "the Godfather of Italian gastronomy".
Aside from winning acclaim for his cooking skills, Carluccio has also written over a dozen books about Italian food, as well as being awarded the Commendorate - the equivalent of a British knighthood - from the Italian government in 1998 for services to his country and an OBE from the queen in 2007 for his contributions to the catering industry.
